St. Michael the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.

Be our safeguard against the wickedness
and snares of the Devil.

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God,
cast into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl
about the world seeking the ruin of souls.

PASTORAL COUNCIL

Advised by and under the guidance of Jim Deeds from the Living Church Office, we have set up our Pastoral Council.

In our selection of Members, we followed the strict guidelines set down by the Diocese through the Living Church Office for the formation of the Pastoral Council. We decided on a membership of 12.  After a series of public meetings they were chosen from a group of parishioners who had submitted their names for possible membership. They represent a wide cross-section of our Parish: age, gender, Interests, abilities, etc. The job of the Pastoral Council is to help in the development of the Sacramental, Liturgical and Pastoral life of the Parish. Through our Members we will be reaching out to you, our parishioners, for your help and abilities in the development of the Pastoral life of our Parish.

Certificate Requests

Requests for copies of Baptism, Confirmation or Marriage Certificates.

All requests need to be made in writing and certificates can only be issued to those named on the record – for instance, the person who was baptised, or, in the case of someone under the age of 16, their parent or guardian. Because requests need to be signed and we need to retain a written record of all requests for access to our sacramental registers, we are unable to process requests by phone.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL

THE LISBURN CONFERENCE OF ST VINCENT DE PAUL has recently reformed in the Parish. We have a good group, but we always welcome new members, whether it is to be a full member or to help with such things as the Sunday church collection. We would also greatly welcome help from people who might not want to become full members but who could help in other ways e.g. general handyman, maintenance of white goods etc.

If you would like to join us or have any questions, please contact Dee French (07821 190775) or Cathy Brannan (07518 333644). If you are struggling financially, please feel free to contact us in strictest confidence on 028 9060 1899. Finally, many thanks to all parishioners for their continued support. It is very much appreciated and, without it, we wouldn’t be able to provide the support that we do.

DIOCESAN DATA PROTECTION

DIOCESAN DATA PROTECTION ACT GUIDANCE

REQUEST FOR COPIES OF BAPTISM, CONFIRMATION OR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES.

Personal Requests (Restricted)

From time to time, many people find it necessary to request a copy of a Certificate of Baptism, or a record of their Confirmation or Marriage in Church. Most commonly, this will be in connection with a marriage or a school application.

In order to comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act, all such requests need to be made in writing and certificates can only be issued to those named on the record – for instance, the person who was baptised, or, in the case of someone under the age of 16, their parent or guardian. Because requests need to be signed and we need to retain a written record of all requests for access to our sacramental registers, we are unable to accept requests by phone or e-mail.

Research / Family Tree Requests (Partially Restricted)

Once an individual is deceased, their personal data is no longer covered by the Data Protection Act. However, the impact on living relatives should be considered prior to disclosure. Personal information contained in a record of burials may be considered sensitive or liable to cause distress. We need to take into consideration the implications associated with that data. Within data protection protocols a lifetime is assumed to be 100 years, therefore the Diocese restricted periods are as follows:- Baptism Certificates 100 years, Confirmation Certificates 90 years, Marriage Certificates 85 years.
