PATHWAYS TO THE FUTURE

As we begin to prepare for the season of Lent which starts on Ash Wednesday 5th March, I am delighted to introduce, Pilgrim Hearts: Walking in the Steps of Jesus this Lent – a new resource inspired by the Gospels and the pilgrim saints of Ireland. As “Pilgrims of Hope” in this Jubilee Year (2025), this program has been designed to help parishes, families and individuals deepen their faith by journeying with Christ through the Sunday Gospels and be inspired by the lives of the Irish Saints.

Ireland’s rich spiritual heritage offers us inspiring examples of saints who lived their lives with “pilgrim hearts”. Saints like Patrick, Brigid, Columba, Kevin & Abigail taught us how to embrace prayer, sacrifice, and trust in God through their faith filled journeys.

The structure of the program includes:
Prayer and reading of the gospel passage: Drawing strength from God as we reflect on His Word.
Reflecting as Pilgrims with a short video on an Irish Saint: Opening our hearts to spiritual growth, renewal and hope. Acting in Faith: Living out the Gospel message through acts of love, kindness and service.

We are hosting an online training via zoom on Tuesday 18th February @7:00 pm for parish leaders and group facilitators to explore ways of delivering the program. If you would like to attend or would like a copy of the resource, please complete the online form by clicking the link: https://forms.office.com/e/LpARgB1kqn

DAY OF PRAYER

DAY OF PRAYER FOR VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS OF ABUSE – MARCH 7TH, 2025
Pope Francis has invited Bishops around the world to establish a special day of prayer in the Church year to support the journey of human and spiritual recovery. This day is not only for victims and survivors who have been so severely injured, either inside or outside our Church, but also for the families and communities affected by grief for their loved ones. Within Down and Connor to mark this important event mass will be celebrated on FRIDAY 7th March in Saint Patrick’s Church, Donegall Street, Belfast at 1:00pm to pray for and remember victims and survivors of abuse within our Church. At this mass the Candle of Atonement will be lit.

If you cannot attend in person view virtually by webcam – www.stpatricksbelfast.org

The respective donations will help the Sisters provide healthcare, education, food etc in their very varied work with marginalised children and young adults. We will keep you posted as and when we receive acknowledgments from the Missionary Sisters.
