JUBILEE PILGRIMAGE
JUBILEE PILGRIMAGE TO ROME AND ASSISI – QUB ALUMNI AND FRIENDS
The Catholic Chaplaincy at Queen’s University Belfast will lead a Pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi for alumni and friends. Departing 25 August 2025 for 7 nights, staying in excellent hotels in Rome and Assisi, this promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Every quarter century, the Holy Father invites the faithful from across the world to make pilgrimage to the Eternal City and to avail of the special graces associated with the ancient custom. The Pilgrimage’s Spiritual Director will be Queen’s Chaplain, Fr Dominic McGrattan, with dedicated tour guide, private coach travel and group meals included. In addition to a rich itinerary which takes in visits to the principal sacred and cultural sites, we will also observe the customs associated with this Year of Jubilee declared by Pope Francis. If you would like to know more information including price, itinerary and how to book, please email Chaplaincy Director, Shannon Campbell, at catholicchaplaincy@qub.ac.uk

UKRAINIAN GREEK CATHOLIC RITE
Since Easter this year, a monthly Liturgy in the UKRAINIAN GREEK CATHOLIC RITE has started in Belfast. This is in response to a request from Ukrainian refugees living throughout Northern Ireland for pastoral support in their own language and Rite. Fr Taras Khomych, the Ukrainian Chaplain in Liverpool, travels to celebrate the Divine Liturgy at St Patrick’s Church, Donegall Street, Belfast on the second Sunday of the month at 1pm. The established Ukrainian Catholic community in Dublin has kindly created an ongoing advert for the Liturgy in English and Ukrainian to be shared. With Ukrainian refugees in Northern Ireland being rather spread out, more are finding out about the pastoral support available through their social media since the Liturgies began.
The main contact for the Ukrainian Catholic community in Ireland is: ugccie@gmail.com

PLEDGE FOR NOVEMBER
Many people offer spiritual support to a relation who is struggling because of alcohol or an addiction problem. Parishioners who wish to take a short-term Pioneer Pledge for the month of the Holy Souls are invited to visit www.pioneers.ie/pray.
Pray daily: “I promise in honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary to abstain from all alcohol during the month of November”.
Let your light shine
The most important thing about each of us is our capacity for goodness. We can be a source of light.
We have hands that can care, eyes that can see, ears that can hear, tongues that can speak, feet that can walk and above all hearts that can love.
Unfortunately, through laziness, selfishness, and cowardice our light can be dimmed, so that we become shadows of the people we could be. Lord, help us to believe in our goodness, and to let the light of goodness shine. On seeing this light others find their way, and you will be glorified. (Flor McCarthy SDB).
